I'm Daniel. My father is an oil painter.

For years, I watched him come home from painting trips frustrated. The easel was too heavy, the tripod wobbled, lost two brushes in the woods, so on and so forth. He'd worked around these problems for so long he'd stopped noticing them — until I started asking questions.

We spent two years on the answer. Studying how he and other painters actually worked in the field. Identifying every compromise they'd accepted as normal. Designing, prototyping, rebuilding. He tested each version outdoors and told me what still wasn't right. I went back and fixed it.

This is what came out of that process.
